UPDATE: A full Web commercial for Celebration is up:
I love it, especially her face being rearranged from torn pieces of her various looks—keep reading after the jump for screengrabs of my favorite moments.
The first still from Madonna's "Celebration" video (release it already, yo) is exciting and confusing both! It looks really terrific and pop art, and as has been pointed out by my Madonnaphile friends, she has terrifying Nancy Reagan/Joan Collins shoulder pads supporting a cool Debbie Harry "Sweet and Low" face. (Nice touch: The glovelets are so "Lucky Star" era.)
The only thing that gives me pause is that the song is so free and easy I would have expected a less constructed look.
But let's face it: Lady GaGa has made it hard for Madonna not to be inspired by her sooner or later. Looks like it's sooner rather than later.
P.S. I'm told the background in the video still is not from the video, but from an in-progress promo piece for the album.
