This is awesome and all—Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig, on stage in A Steady Rain, demanding that some idiotic audience member answering his or her ringing cellphone already—but my question is: How does this just happen to be caught on video? Maybe the Patti LuPone freak-out gave them an idea that it would be good press?
At any rate, there is NO EXCUSE for a ringing cellphone in a play. I saw Vanessa Redgrave in the very somber The Year of Magical Thinking and a cellphone went off more than once. Horrifying.
