Sylvia Allen, founder of Sylvia's Children (a Holmdel, New Jersey-based organization that benefits children in Masaka, Uganda, who have been orphaned by AIDS) writes a powerful letter to President Obama, urging him to reach out to Uganda's President Museveni regarding the infamous "kill the gays" bill the African nation may soon pass into law.
I think this is a highly appropriate, passionate and also practical letter. Though I understand the concept of not becoming too interventionist in a country's political affairs, I would like to see the same kind of letter from Madonna sent to those in power in Malawi, where two men are about to be tried for staging a public commitment of their love for each other.
