Chely Wright really was the celebrity coming out of the closet May 5—People has confirmed it after it was guessed at the eleventh hour on the 'Net. 

Putting expectations aside, it's quite nice to have her. As she explains to People, she feared being open at first because:

"There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality. I wasn't going to be the first."

While her coming out is welcome, especially in a genre with a lack of out figures, I think she is remiss in overlooking Ms. k.d. lang.
