Wigstock has a sequel?
I'm not a huge Cher or Christina Aguilera fan, so I'm not sure what to make of Burlesque. The synopsis leaves plenty of room for doubt:

I don't know...it all sounds like Glitter meets Showgirls meets a Very Special Episode of Will & Grace (hence Cher).
Renée Zellweger looks like herself again!
But I just realized this is written and directed by Steven (né Steve) Antin (pictured), who was one of the most memorable on-screen snarky assholes of the '80s. He was always playing a pompous little jerk, which culminated with his appearance in The Accused (I believe he's buds with Jodie Foster) as one of the rapists; he was the one who the older guy kept egging on with chants of "do it, frat boy" or something similar.
Wow, Cher looks great!
Oh...wait...
So forget about rooting for Ali aka Christina; the real success story—should Burlesque's November 24 release wind up foretelling serious awards consideration or should its b.o. be anything but stinky—would be in seeing still-cute Antin go from being pretend poisonous twink to for-real acclaimed (and out) writer/director.
Burlesque's director was its most interesting casting decision
So now I'm interested. More new Burlesque stills from Screen Gems after the jump...
