Never heard a word about this prerequisite until today, but if one hopes to attend Madonna's Material Girl party at Macy's on Wednesday, one must be among the first 350 to purchase $75 worth of Material Girl items at the Herald Square location.

I headed over at noon thinking I must be the last to know, but the clerk told me, "Not a big turn-out like I'd expect for her." It's possible this thing was done under the radar so as to attempt to draw in actual shoppers and teens as opposed to 350 40-year-old Like a Virgins. The last two numbers purchased as of me were #063 and #064, so that means there were still nearly 300 spots open.

The cute guy responsible for handing out the lanyards told me that attendees get to "meet Madonna," but I'm thinking what that actually means is everyone gathers around and Madonna makes a brief appearance. I know a contest winner or two will get to meet her.

Anyway...in case you were in search of a $39 bolero jacket...here's your excuse!
