Via Towleroad: Seth Stambaugh, a 23-year-old gay graduate teaching student, has been fired on the spot from his assignment at an elementary school in Beaverton, Oregon, after honestly answering a student's inquiry about his marital status. When a curious student asked him if he were married, Stambaugh said no. When the student asked why, he said he would be illegal because he "would choose to marry another guy." The student asked if that meant he liked to "hang out with guys," to which Stambaugh said simply, "Yeah."

That's grounds for firing in America.

The same parent who complained about this conversation had previously complained that Mr. Stambaugh was not dressed appropriately...on a day when he was wearing "pressed pants, an oxford shirt, a tie and a cardigan."

I hope he sues the pressed pants off the school district. Who says teachers have to be underpaid?
