The guys of The Six Pack are the first to score with Black Spark—well, they scored the first audio interview with him at least. Go have a listen to see if you think he's "a tool" (as hosts Ben & Dave worried he might be before speaking with him) or a serious artiste or both. (Full interview available on The Six Pack's iPhone app.)
He says he was inspired by Kanye West's lyric about "shooting a viral" and incorporates sex into all he does because:
"...sex is power. You know, anyone can tell you, they can tell you whatever they want, but sex is power. Um, I feel powerful when I'm, when I'm havin' sex. I like, you know, I like to have sex, I have a lot of sex in my day-to-day life and so, that's why I hate the whole 'porn' thing is just because you guys are just seeing my love life. I have sex every single day and that's what people see."
He says, of his occasionally temperamental outbursts on Facebook:
"You know what? I act like I throw a big fit about a lot of different things because it's fun sometimes just to have fun on my Facebook, but they can say what they want. I mean, they're watching' it, they're talkin' about it. I feel like it's a free country, you can have your opinion—I'll, I'll, you know, I'll, I'll respect it...[The guessing game] can be tooken as a compliment."
On the explosion of interest in his work:
"Yeah, no—I didn't think it was gonna blow up. The videos were for me, first and foremost, and then they were for the people who are like me, out there. I just felt like there as an itch that wasn't being scratched. There were people who needed satisfaction and they weren't gonna get it from porn. They needed something with a little bit more substance, something different...It didn't really surprise me."
People around him mostly have non-disclosure agreements. When it comes to who "Black Spark" really is:
"Yeah, he is a superhero, but he's also a monster. I think, um, he's all my good and bad qualities amplified, you know, by a million. I don't know...He is a superhero to me because I think, um, some people need to be saved from themselves. I think a lotta people go around and I think a lotta people lie to themselves and I think, you know, there's people who are like, 'But you're hiding behind a mask, and you're lying to your family, or you're doing this, you're doing th—' Maybe all that's true, but I'm not lying to myself. I mean, I definitely know what my addictions are, I know what my demons are and I show them to you guys. For everything they say about the Black Spark and what he's doing, they can't say he's lying to himself because I never do that."
Finally, for anyone wondering if this is just a savvy marketing campaign put together by a porn company, he firmly denies it, saying:
"There is no scheme. I mean, it really is real. I struggle with sexual addiction and you're seein' that, you know, kind of on a weekly basis."
