Just saw Rabbit Hole, starring Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhart, Dianne Wiest, Tammy Blanchard and Sandra Oh. I found it mesmerizingly well acted and deeply felt. John Cameron Mitchell's direction was flawless...deceptively complicated film that makes incredible use of the pauses between actions and between words.
Entertainment Weekly describes the return of Kidman's face (after years of deforming plastic surgery). She still looks like Meg Ryan at times, but definitely she looks more natural and in fact it's not a distraction to see this character displaying some nips and tucks (unlike seeing her plasticity in Cold Mountain). She's just terrific in it and is guaranteed an Oscar nomination.
I'm actually surprised Wiest isn't on lists, but I suppose this year it's a crowded field.
Please see it if you like introspective dramas.
P.S. How have I never noticed that Oh's speaking voice sounds just like Cher's?
