Democrats had hoped to flip control of the Wisconsin Senate with a series of recall elections last night, but while we "only" got two of the three seats we needed, it's hard to believe the spin that this was some kind of a loss for the good guys. We unseated two Republicans, winning in districts that were safely Republican even in 2008! The ones where we lost we will probably never win. As a commenter at Kos said, they're "Bachmann Country.'
Two more recalls to get through next week (both Democrats defending their seats—both favored), and the Wisconsin Senate will now sit with only a one-seat tilt to the right. Considering there is one Republican state senator who has voted with Democrats, that's nothing to sneeze at.
I hope they'll push ahead with plans to recall Gov. Walker—if last night's results are repeated statewide, he'd probably be a goner.
