Kelly Clarkson tweeted her "love" for Ron Paul, based on what she perceives as his desire for small government and letting the people decide things. She was hit with some backlash about Paul's racism and homophobia and expressed seemingly genuine shock—why, she'd never heard a whisper of such things. She's all for gay rights, straight rights, etc.

Of course, Paul isn't for those things. He's for removing the federal government from the equation entirely. So therefore he was for letting racism continue unabated, would be in favor of letting the people decide to criminalize homosexuality—the list goes on. He is anti-government, not pro-people.

Regardless, the most annoying thing about someone like Kelly Clarkson—with her million Twitter followers—endorsing Ron Paul isn't that she's a conservative voicing her opinion, it's that she is endorsing someone she knows NOTHING about. She hadn't heard any of that stuff about Ron Paul? Then clearly she isn't even superficially aware of what's happening in politics. It's not like she knew about his newsletters but had decided they were unimportant; she'd never even heard of them.

I guess we all have a right to be ignorant, but it sure can be disappointing when someone you sorta liked (I was never a big fan, so I'll live) exposes her ignorance so publicly—and she is now experiencing the fall-out from that disappointment.
