Whitney-funeral-program

UPDATE: Are you fucking kidding me? The preacher introduces Gov. Chris Christie (R-New Jersey) and everyone gives him a standing O? Fuck that. The dude who just vetoed marriage equality at the funeral of a woman who was at the very least closeted as a bisexual if not as a lesbian...speechless.

I was no Whitney Houston fan (well, I was—a long time ago), but I do genuinely feel bad for all the people so deeply affected by her work and therefore by her passing.

Still, with respect for the heartfelt proceedings, it's impossible not to note the irony of noted ex-gay pastor/singer Donnie McClurkin bringing down the house at her funeral. Will he get big iTunes bucks for his performance or at least from other versions of his song "Stand"? Will they enrich a guy who tells people God makes no mistakes, but that gay people should repent and change? A discouraging footnote.

Not to mention Clive Davis trying to convince us that just because Whitney allegedly told him she was ready for a comeback, that means she would have had one; it's not even all about chart positions and success anyway. If it were, Whitney would still be alive and would have had a much happier time of it.

Sad to hear Aretha Franklin was too ill and too upset to perform.

Speaking of her funeral, even though The Bodyguard is down there with Ghost and Home Alone and, yes, Titanic for me movie-wise, I have to say that Bret Easton Ellis's tweet for a "reality check" that it was a terrible movie is typical of his sociopathic online spew. Would it have been more real for Kevin Costner to take time out during the woman's eulogy to say he thought the movie they did together was bad? Talk about missing the point. Ellis is the gay Westboro at this point.

P.S. Less Than Zero sucked harder than Robert Downey Jr.'s character in it almost did.
