Madonna apologizes to her Australian fans for skipping out on them again.
Her reasoning is that she needs to spend more time with her children (she's already thinking about Lola leaving home "soon"—she's only 15!), but the real reason seems to be financial, no? At least, that's what all the people in the business who have defended the surprise move have been saying makes sense.
Like, couldn't she have started the tour there? Or done Australia instead of another market? (Don't hate me, South America! I'm just asking.)
But it's a nice gesture to let the fans know she gets that they're pissed off. I would be, too. There are fans all over the world who don't get to see Madonna in their home countries, but Australia is especially tough because it's a major market for her and Australian fans have to spend oodles to travel to see her. Hopefully she'll make it up to them next time.
Ultimately, she's gonna do what's right for her and we're gonna like it or lump it. The good thing is she's still touring (a lot of) the world in a big way 30 years in. That's what Blu-rays are for!
