The Golden Globes nominees are out, and I think the voters were out of their minds to ignore Beasts of the Southern Wild. A more poetic and thoughtful and exquisitely made piece of art you will not find this year.

I don't see how they could overlook director Tom Hooper and yet honor Les Miz so thoroughly otherwise.

Also pretty surprised Barbra Streisand was ignored in the comedy category for the not-always-funny The Guilt Trip and that there was no Matthew McConaughey for Magic Mike, another solid supporting performance of the sort that the Globes usually notices.

Some shows I don't watch but have heard are great (and are often rewarded) were left off the list, including Game of Thrones, Mad Men and American Horror Story.

It's a joke that Happy Endings is not noticed, let alone the hard-working actors, and then for Max Greenfield to get honored for New Girl. Smash nabbed a best series nom over Parks and Recreation?
