I fondly remember her and the show (and its theme!). It's a shame she never won an Emmy for her engagingly flustered, layered performance. Her character was kind of like "Alice" meets "Mary Hartman," and boy did "Ann" have her hands full with those girls.

Speaking of which, Valerie Bertinelli, who became fodder for the teen mags during the show's nearly decade-long run, tweeted, "My heart is breaking."in response to Franklin's passing, and posted this sweet, recent two-shot of her with her TV mom.
