Even Madonna's crappy videos are now inspiring others: Gwen's trippy-but-lazy “Baby Don't Lie” video is here, and it is giving me major, major “Love Profusion” vibes. See Madonna's version of jauntily walking in place in the studio after the jump...

Don't Lie: Do You Hear It? Comments (0)

Really like Gwen Stefani's comeback single “Baby Don't Lie”! Really dramatic and catchy.

Some are saying it's inspired by Ji Nilsson's “Heartbreak Free” (after the jump), but while I hear why it's said they're similar, I mainly see the comparisons as a good excuse for me to discover how great Ji Nilsson is, too...

That Was The Way, Uh-Huh, Uh-Huh, He Liked It Comments (2)

In Touch (October 25, 2010) reveals that Gavin Rossdale will tell Details (November 2010) that he really did have that long-rumored affair with Marilyn in the '80s:

"It's just one of those things: move on. I don't think there's anything strange about any form of...you're learning about life. That's it. No more, no less...You have to know what you like, and I know what I like."

It's refreshing that he'd acknowledge a gay relationship as normal and a part of learning about life, though Marilyn will probably find it somewhat bittersweet that it's in the context of a youthful indiscretion that helped him figure out he likes women.

Meanwhile...I want to beam up that Chris Pine Details spread right now!

She'll Never Have What I Have Comments (18)

CaskissMore of Madonna's pals are getting involved in the "She's Not Me" controversy. This time, Ingrid Casares QUOTES Madonna as saying, "Is that the video where she thinks she is me?" (In reference not to "Alejandro," but the video that shows comparisons between the two.)

Though Casares later Tweets on an unrelated matter in a way that implies she likes Lady GaGa:

And by the way, Ingrid's Twitter is surprisingly hilarious.

UPDATE: Actually, as was pointed out by commenter Peter, Ingrid flat out calls GaGa's "Alejandro" a rip-off:

Gwen Stefani, the last-next Madonna

Speaking of rip-offs, here's a classic from the vault—Madonna on Gwen Stefani from 2005:

"She ripped me off. We work with a lot of the same people. She married a Brit, she's got blonde hair and she likes fashion. But I don't mind. I think she's very sweet and talented."

Let There Be No Doubt Comments (3)

Marilyn_scary Unlike my good friend Kenneth, I always thought Marilyn was a piece of shit, musically; I never found him in the least bit interesting. Why, I don't know, considering he was undeniably queer and I was really excited by the less pretty Boy George and his Culture Club.

But I do find it kind of interesting that Marilyn's long-rumored relationship with Gwen Stefani's husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, is finally being confirmed by Marilyn himself. George had previously outed the couple, but Marilyn was lying to protect Rossdale at that point. Now that he's been described as "a dried-up dowager" (recent photos of Marilyn at left), Marilyn's lips have loosened.

In Touch (May 4, 2009) breaks the story, which has Marilyn stating that Rossdale "was the love of my life...We were together five years." If you're making up a romance, you usually go for a one-night stand or a two-week fling, not something that outlasts the sex.

"I am in love with you. I want you," Rossdale allegedly said to Marilyn not only his first man, but his first person.

Kooky Marilyn expresses surprise that Stefani has never deigned to meet him, even though he crashed their wedding.

Trainwreck! But I believe the relationship part. The part where Marilyn says he's not gay and has had more relationships with women than men...not so much.
