Trump's Alleged Victims: PEOPLE Writer Sympathizes With Melania, Anonymous Rape Accuser Drops Suit Comments (0)

Screen Shot 2016-11-05 at 1.37.57 PM(Video still via People Magazine)

People writer Natasha Stoynoff spoke with EIC Jess Cagle about her accusations regarding Donald Trump, who she claims was sexually inappropriate with her while she was completing a profile on the mogul years ago:

I always liked her—from the moment I met her. I liked her very much. And I feel like she's a woman of dignity. And I think that she deserves better than to be in a situation like this.

Does she feel bad for her?

I don't know if she's the kind of woman you feel bad for. I think she's a very strong woman, and I think she probably does exactly as she wants to do and knows exactly what she's doing. But I feel a solidarity with all women, including her, so I feel like I understand her, anyway.

In a move that's striking considering it could just as easily have come following the election, the anonymous woman who has alleged Trump raped her when she was 13 totally dropped her suit after backing out of a press conference last week, citing fears of violence.

I don't think her suit had merit, to be honest. If she's going to file and drop it willy-nilly and commit to high-profile media then back away, and then drop it entirely the weekend before the election, it just feels like this woman is not credible.

Robert Sepúlveda Jr. Is Slut-Shaming Himself At This Point Comments (0)

Robert Sepúlveda Jr. continues to heap shame upon himself, this time by justifying why he became a sex worker by trotting out a story of being dirt-poor and having no options:

The small furniture store I was working at suddenly went out of business. I didn't know how I was going to pay rent or my [college] tuition or buy food. I saw no other way to support myself so I decided to do it too. I had all those expenses, I just knew that I had to do something. I had no other choice.

This kind of B.S. just makes his (not-so-distant) past in sex work into some kind of horror, when it does not need to be. Also, if you happen to be morally opposed to sex work (which would be a stupid position), then you also would not buy the fact that needing money means you do anything it takes to get it.6a00d8341c2ca253ef01b7c88ed1e3970b-800wi

Plus, he gives the story to a non-LGBTQ (thought very LGBTQ-friendly) outlet., People.

The photo shoot I posted happened on March 1, 2006, and he used one of the images in his escorting profile. His latest claim is he stopped escorting in 2006, upon his graduation. So I guess we'll now sit back and wait for johns to say they hired him in 2008, etc.; that's what happens when you open the door and fib to make things sound better.

For example, he says:

PEOPLE Honors 49 Victims Of Pulse Mass Shooting Comments (0)

Cover-768(Image via People Magazine)

People's gay EIC Jess Cagle has chosen to honor the 49 victims of the Pulse gay nightclub mass shooting with a touching, mosaic-style cover on this week's edition of the top-selling magazine. In a post about the tragedy, the magazine's staff notes that all 49 are pictured on the cover (I count 48, and assume no photo was available for one?):

People is paying tribute to the 49 victims of Sunday's mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando—showing their faces on the cover.

The victims came from all walks of life, expecting a night out in a place known for its inclusive spirit. The night ended in terror—the deadliest mass shooting in United States history ...

People reporters spoke with many of their loves ones, who shared fond memories of lives cut tragically short and harrowing memories of the horrible scene.

The magazine also gets political, offering contact info for every member of Congress and, in a piece by Cagle himself, urging action on gun control. The essay points out that 6,033 people have met gun deaths in the U.S. this year already.

Matt Dallas & Blue Hamilton Open Up To PEOPLE About Their Son Comments (0)

Just 10 years ago, it seemed like it would be a cold day in hell before young, leading-man-appropriate guys in Hollywood would actually come out of the closet.

Though we have yet to hear from some of the industry's most unrepentant closet cases (I know, I know—the journey, the journey), quite a few actors have made it official, including former Kyle XY cutie Matt Dallas, who came out in 2013 and wed singer Blue Hamilton last year.

Now, Dallas and Hamilton have granted an exclusive interview to People, in which they open up about raising son Crow, 2:

“We locked eyes. And he had a giant smile on his face,” Dallas tells PEOPLE exclusively of his son Crow, now 2½. “It was a moment. Instantly we knew, that’s our kid!”...

The couple, who also have a YouTube channel, matt + blue, went through a certification process to become foster parents, in the hopes that it would lead to a formal adoption.

“There were so many kids, and so many stories that broke our hearts,” says Hamilton, 36, of the 19,000 children in foster care in the couple’s home state of Arizona. “We wanted to feel like we were doing something good for a child out there.”...

Now, “it’s as if he’s always been here,” says Dallas, 33. “Blue and I both knew that we would love [an adopted child] the same [as a biological one]. The amount of time we spend with that kid and the bond we have, it makes no difference. He’s ours.”

Great way to make use of the world's incurable interest in fame, by spotlighting an aspect of your life that can lead to bettering the lives of others.

Read more about the family at People.

On a #TBT note, I think I look enough like Crow that I could maybe be adopted by Matt & Blue and would blend really well:

Hard News: Gio Loves Tommy Comments (0)

ABC's Gio Benitez is treating his wedding to Tommy DiDario with all the low-key subtlety of a Real Housewife, spilling all the details to People magazine—and isn't it great we're at a place where gay people get to do that (if they want to), too?

Their story is actually v. romantic, including the quoting of a Broadway play and a surprise proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Props to People for working into its story that Benitez “fell in love with hard news” in his native Miami.

Congrats to the happy couple.
