Two members of Pussy Riot have escaped from Russia in order to avoid arrest. Good for them! The article says there are another 12 members still running around in Putinland—I had no idea it was such a large collective/group. I hope all of the others escape. Some laws are made for breaking, and how can you respect the authority in a country where you can't even say equivalent of the word "gay" on TV?

Sadly, the members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot have been convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and could get up to seven years in prison. Putin has said they "shouldn't be judged too harshly," probably rattled by international outrage over the case. They may be sentenced to the five months they've already served.
It's interesting that "religious hatred" is used to sentence them—this is similar to what religious hate groups are doing here in the U.S., turning the tables on the people they're oppressing by claiming the oppressed are the ones guilty of hatred against religion.
Disgusting, disgusting verdict.
