End of an era, indeed: Trent Vanegas, the founder of and chief blogger at Pink Is the New Blog, has announced (in a post, natch) that he is departing the site after 10 years.
The post is melancholy, as he explains the decision was not entirely his, following what sounds like a good news/bad news sale a while back to SpinMedia. (It reminds me that quite a few years back, I was given a nice job offer that initially would have come with a small buy-out offer for BoyCulture.com. I often wonder what would've happened had that part of the deal been finalized. Instead, they decided not to make the offer, and instead would have mandated that I not blog. Which was like ... no.)
Trent's was one of the very first blogs I ever read ... and I had no idea what to make of it! But reading him and looking at Perez gave me the idea to do a blog, and of course the gravitas (which is in short supply these days!) came from Towleroad.
I'll miss Trent, but I have to believe he will contribute to the culture in another way sometime soon.
