Samantha Fox came out in 2003, when she first acknowledged a long-term relationship with manager/partner Myra Stratton. Stratton died in 2015, and Fox has since begun another serious relationship with a woman.

Now, she's opening up more about her sexuality as she promotes an upcoming memoir.

This week, Fox appeared on the UK show Loose Women and talked about a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, one in which she didn't state that she is a lesbian:

I was a bit scared. People in Britain do know about it, and on Big Brother I talked about it. It was a good chance for me to speak about it in my own words ... Yeah, I kind of, I did sit on the fence a little bit … I said I don’t believe in labels.

She chalked up her past reluctance to ID as a lesbian to career fears, not totally ridiculous since along with being a singer she has always been a pinup girl for men:

For a long time I was a bit scared, because I did feel maybe—I’ve got of male fans, but since being a singer, I've got a lot of  female fans, too—but I was scared that I may lose that fanbase.

She still never said she's a lesbian, but offered:

I would say the fact I was with Myra for 16 years, and now I'm in love again with a woman again, um, I guess I would say I prefer to be with women. That's what I can say now.

Her dislike of labels survives, even if she came across as pretty woman-centric:

I always believe in love—you can't help who you fall in love with. But I can't really see myself ever marrying a guy. I love guys! I work with them all the time, they're in my band, you know, they're in my business.

She said to any women who may have been watching:

Don't be scared about coming out like I was, and worrying about what people think, because love is a great thing and you've gotta live life today.
