Federal Appeals Court: 1964 Civil Rights Act Applies To LGBTQ People Comments (0)

Via the AP: A federal appeals court in Chicago has ruled that the Civil Rights Act applies to gay people, too, which is the first time any court has made this finding.

Greg Nevins, Employment Fairness Program Director for Lambda Legal, said:

This decision is game changer for lesbian and gay employees facing discrimination in the workplace and sends a clear message to employers: it is against the law to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.

Next stop? SCOTUS.
