Look, Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin all have their good and bad points.

I do think Cooper's personality was well enough established that we all could have predicted he would organically find a mock decapitation of a sitting POTUS contemptible, but then again, why'd he have to speak out about it at all?

So I'm actually Team Kathy there, but with some understanding that Cooper wasn't being a spineless dick for having that opinion — he just didn't have to condemn her so strongly.

Now, though, via Towleroad, Andy Cohen is jumping in on it

Instead of ignoring the paps, he engages in an extended game of “I don't know her,” which was something Mariah Carey did in her 20s as a new star, not pushing 50 as a media pro. I don't hate Andy Cohen whatsoever, but I really think he comes off as a smarmy dick here:

He also opened the door for Kathy to tar him as a misogynist, which could be argued from the entire concept of his Real Housewives franchise, although I don't think most people would immediately go there. Kathy worked for him for years on her series, so she is speaking with some experience.

Then again, a number of Kathy's “gays” (this is a tired phrase we need to get rid of, Kath) have made clear they felt betrayed by her when they were kicked off her show after Season 1.

So there is messiness all around, but it's now gotten juvenile. They should all just either figure out a way to make nice or stop talking about it.
