Peter Avsenew, a 32-year-old man who had just heard that the same jury that convicted him of murder has also recommended the death penalty, brazenly gave his victims' families the finger in open court.

The judge in the case called the move unwise, since she had yet to formally sentence him ...

Via Local 10 News: Avsenew ingratiated himself to Kevin Mark Powell and Stephen Adams, a Wilton Manors, Florida, couple who had been together for over 20 years, earning himself an invitation to move in with them thanks to a racy Craigslist ad.

Instead of fun and games, he murdered the couple, leaving with their car, some money and other valuables.

He was so straight-up nutty his own mom figured out what he'd done and turned him in rather than face the same fate.

Avsenew represented himself in court, always a bad idea, and smugly announced:

I have no regrets in my life and I am proud of the decisions I’ve made. No one really knows what happened that day. Everyone can speculate what ifs and maybes until they’re blue in the face, which they’ll never really know.

The victims' families expressed elation with the jury's recommendation that this lunatic be put down.

Missy Badget, one of the victims' sisters, said:

After what happened in that courtroom just now, I’m happy that he’s being put to the death penalty.
