WHY: If folk music was the accompanying score for the feminist movement, and soul music the soundtrack for civil rights, then dance music is the soundtrack to the liberation of sexuality. Dance music, like the LGBTQ struggle for equality, is often trivialized and dismissed (just look at the lack of Grammy categories for the many types of dance that exist). Soundtrack to Freedom by GoldNation is an album that celebrates the connection between dance music & queer culture.

“I love how Alan has brought the vibe of the Weimar 1920s cabaret to the lower east side of Manhattan circa 2018. With my concert party I wanna take that sexy edgy cabaret feeling and bring in the 90s electronic, house music scene that was incredibly vibrant here in NYC. I have none other than my best friend Kevin Aviance who was the queen of that scene hosting the night for me. If you are there you are a part of the show. That’s how intimate we’re gonna get. It’s my own expression of freedom at a time when our freedoms are being contested and feel threatened.
