Happy 96th to Doris Day! She is arguably the greatest living overall star — I chose her as such for my massive list of all performers 80+! — and is undeniably a living legend: Music, movies, TV and her personal life (and animal activism) has certainly helped to make her an enduring pop cultural touchstone.

If only she would agree to accept an honorary Oscar in person, it would be hers for the taking.
