Signed SB270, prohibits therapists from “#conversiontherapy” to patients under 18. I’m proud to join the 11 other states and send a strong message to our #LGBT youth: that sexual orientation is not an illness to be “cured” – we accept you just the way you are. #BornPerfect #HIGov pic.twitter.com/wEa3cmibeS

On Friday, Hawaii's Gov. David Ige, a Democrat, signed SB270, a bill to protect LGBTQ youth from conversion therapy, a widely discredited practice known to do all harm and no good.
Amit Paley, CEO and Executive Director of The Trevor Project, said of the development:
We’re seeing significant momentum to protect LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy, and The Trevor Project calls on even more states to join Hawaii in banning this barbaric practice. We look forward to continuing 50 Bills 50 States’ important work alongside new state legislators to protect even more LGBTQ young people nationwide.
Hawaii is the twelfth state to outlaw conversion therapy — let's get to work on the other 38.
