A new allegation of sexual misconduct has been made against Brett Kavanaugh, dating back to his college years. "This is a serious, disturbing, and credible allegation, and should be fully investigated,” Senator Mazie Hirono said. https://t.co/Cuy2JvZUl8— The New Yorker (@NewYorker) September 24, 2018
In a New Yorker piece by Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer — who do not do political hit pieces and are serious journalists — a Yale classmate of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh has come forward with her own story of sexual abuse ...
In the carefully sourced piece, Ramirez describes drinking to excess in a small group in college and being confronted with Kavanaugh's penis, being asked to kiss it. She remembers where it happened (the gathering and the location are backed up by an independent witness), and she remembers Kavanaugh laughing, pulling up his pants, and his name being called down the hall as someone who had just stuck his genitals in her face.
She didn't tell her friends, some of whom signed a pointed statement of support for Kavanaugh — one who called herself Ramirez's best friend at the time noted she was not told — but did tell her family parts of the story.
Other interesting elements of the story: Kavanaugh's buddy Mark Judge's comments, regarding the Christine Blasey Ford accusation, are staunchly refuted by two more witnesses, who claim Kavanaugh was absolutely a heavy drinker. One of them relates a story told to her in confidence by Judge that involved him and other classmates having group sex with a drunken girl; she is breaking the confidence in light of Judge's claim that no roughhousing of any kind with female classmates happened when he was in school with Kavanaugh.
This all comes days before Blasey Ford is set to testify before the Senate. It now seems possible Ramirez will also be called.
UPDATE: Avenatti says he has evidence Kavanaugh attended gang-rape parties in the '80s.
