World AIDS Day Remembrances: Why They Matter Comments (0)

I read hundreds of remembrances this weekend — devastating. One person told me it's good that young people have no idea we all have it now, because that means we have progressed. I understand his optimistic viewpoint, but I'm unsure. I'm unsure if it's good not to recall that 25 years ago, people were routinely succumbing to AIDS complications, and not long before that, almost nothing could be done to so much as help, let alone prolong lives.

The above remembrance struck me on different levels, including images of estrangement, the wall religion can put up, the ephemeral nature of us all.
