Cory Booker has officially thrown his hat into the ring for 2020, announcing via YouTube video on the first day of Black History Month. The Drumline-reminiscent video leans into his experience as a man of color and highlights the fact that he still lives in “a low-income, inner-city community”:
There are at least 10 Dems in the field, with more expected to come. Whoever comes out on top will have genuine bragging rights that he or she had no cake walk to the nomination.
I like him okay, but I am remembering him breaking with Obama on Iran at an unhelpful moment, and I'm not thrilled with him suddenly dating a woman (the odious Rosario Dawson, no less, who slurred Hillary Clinton many times) as if to make sure people won't say he's gay.
He, unlike Marianne Williamson or Tulsi Gabbard, is a so-so Dem I would still definitely vote for, he's just not at the top of my list.
