UPDATE: A bit of good news: The main structure and 1/3 of the roof appear to have survived.
Tragic — it would appear all or most of the iconic, more than 800-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral has been consumed by flames, possibly related to a multi million-dollar renovation project.
The fire, thought to have started in the attic, swiftly decimated the structure's spire and its entire ceiling.
A tremendous loss of antiquity, though local media reports most of the artwork stored inside was saved. Still, the building itself and its stained glass, its statuary, its 13th-century wooden frame and so much more are likely totally lost.
