Gay San Francisco is a documentary shot over five years, from 1965-1970, by Jonathan Raymond that was digitized within the past couple of years.
Previously thought lost, it contains incredible, off-the-cuff interviews with gay men, lesbians and trans women living in the Bay Area, who talk about the area's relative lack of harassment, and other issues relating to being queer an incredible 50-plus years ago.
It also contains footage of actual gay cruising, gay fashion trends, a leather bar, a nude beach, a hilarious show inside the On the Levee, and shots of gay pulps and beefcake mags as they were sold.
There is also a passage in the narration CLEARLY cribbed from The Boys in the Band.
