Fired Ukraine Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovitch testified to Congress today that she felt threatened by Trump, who said in a phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that she's “bad news” and that she is “going to go through some things” in response to her testimony.
In fact, she already has gone through quite a bit. Over the past several months, Ms. Yovanovitch, a decorated 33-year veteran of the State Department, has been vilified in the right-wing news media, denounced by the president’s eldest son as a “joker,” called a Democratic stooge by the president’s personal lawyer and then abruptly recalled from Kiev this May, months ahead of schedule.
Her supposed sin, never backed up by evidence, was that she had shown disloyalty to Mr. Trump, disparaging him behind his back.
Trump continued to attack Yovanovitch live on Twitter while she testified, committing another crime as he attempted to intimidate this very important impeachment witness.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California) was able to ask Yovanovitch about Trump's insults in real time:
it rocks that trump is physically incapable of logging off and how they're just having yovanovitch respond to his tweets in real time pic.twitter.com/YV4N6Oglnx— jordan (@JordanUhl) November 15, 2019
