Suddenly, there are 2 Armed Service members in the group? (Image via Facebook)
The Village People — but let's be real, they're all replacements of replacements except for Victor Willis, so maybe ... A Village People — have decided they're A-okay with Trump using their music at his rallies, because using their music doesn't imply endorsement. At political rallies. Like when he enters to “Macho Man,” that doesn't imply anything. It's fun to stay at the WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!
Look, they're trying to be Dolly Parton aka Switzerland, and keep politics out of their music. But one way to do that is not to suggest that Trump isn't politicizing it, but to instead tell all political candidates not to use it. That's far more impartial, and wouldn't leave the aftertaste of fascism.
The reason this story sticks in the craw is that the Village People were a gay-created, gay-targeted, mostly gay group (aside from Willis, of course). On top of that, the current lineup appears to be two-thirds men of color. If those two facts don't explain why they should not be kissing up to Trump, nothing will convince them or you.
I guess Village People really are just that kind of people. (Image via Casablanca)
