Former military intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning has been released from prison, a day after she attempted to take her own life.
Via Huff Post: Manning had been held since May for refusing to testify in front of a grand jury regarding her WikiLeaks connections. Judge Anthony Trega on Thursday ruled:
The Court finds that Ms. Manning’s appearance before the Grand Jury is no longer needed, in light of which her detention no longer serves any coercive purpose.
Manning had been jailed and then had her sentence commuted by President Obama after serving 7 of 35 years for leaking confidential files to Julian Assange's WikiLeaks.
