On Tuesday, Eddie House posted on Twitter the latest Karen video — this time, a man.
Later identified as former artist and longtime — checks notes — meat importer Timothy Gaskin of San Francisco, this new Karen was shopping inside a Marshalls in Campbell, California, when he was asked to wear a mask. He refused, saying:
You dumb fuckin' faggot, what's your problem? What's your dumb-fuckin'-faggot problem? You don't know the law? That's how stupid you are ... It'll cost you $75,000. It's a health code violation to deny service based on someone's disability.
At that point, he gestured to his ear (perhaps he has a hearing aid?). Regardless, his insistence on the existence of a $75,000 fine is completely fake, and has been drummed up by anti-maskers who are willfully misinterpreting the law. It is absolutely lawful to deny service based on a person's unwillingness to wear a mask, period.
In the footage, Gaskin not only repeatedly speaks to the clerk who is filming as a “faggot,” he also calls him a “dumb Mexican.”
Today at Marshalls in Campbell, Ca this Kevin didn’t want to wear a mask. Hurled offensive comments to the workers, my friends, to customers while exposing gestures to the public. I’m reaching out to y’all in the ether to expose this m’fer to the world! #KarenStrikesAgain #mask pic.twitter.com/ftBkGsDqcW

Gaskin later smugly gives a thumbs-up, starts to expose himself by unzipping his pants and mocks the use of the video, saying only five people would ever see it. In a way, if you strip away the context (the xenophobia and homophobia), this episode also plays as a sad demonstration of how outpaced Gen X is by the ways of the Millennials. Boss, more than five people are going to see this, and you are going to suffer consequences, especially living in a blue state.
Insult to injury this loser thinks he can tell the world of laws/lies while scting above it all. Lets expose this one. #blm #KarenGoneWild #KarenStrikesAgain pic.twitter.com/NWVvpwM49K

Gaskin's details are compelling, especially in relation to his behavior, which doesn't appear to be drug-induced or the product of too much drinking. Gaskin, 52, was a media figure in San Francisco in the 2000s who is ... gay himself! He hosted a weekly TV talk show called OUT Spoken on Comcast public access that addressed LGBTQ issues, a 2006 real estate series called Open House, launched the magazine Benefit: The Lifestyle of Giving (centered around philanthropy — wow) and claimed to have been a longtime HIV/AIDS activist and fundraiser. (Receipts?)
Via CBS, more eyebrow-raising notes on Gaskin:
“Our goal is to inspire people,” Gaskin told the San Francisco Examiner back in 2006. “We’re in a way a guidebook through good example.”
Gaskin did just that in December of 2006 when he helped broker a deal with a San Francisco landlord to provide two apartments to homeless families for $1 a year. The Bay Area Reporter described the deal at the time as “a cynical attempt to redeem the company’s reputation,” as CitiApartments, the rental management company that made the deal, had several lawsuits filed against it for intimidating and harassing tenants.
While publishing magazines and hosting television shows, Gaskin also became a somewhat successful painter. In 2004 he painted a giant heart for the Hearts in San Francisco project, a fundraiser for San Francisco General Hospital. His heart featured then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris portrayed as Billie Holiday and then-Mayor Newsom’s wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, portrayed as Frida Kahlo.
The following year, Gaskin painted one of the rooms of the famous Hotel des Arts, which commissioned room paintings from artists such as Jeremy Fish and Shepard Fairey. Gaskin’s room caused controversy for using Louis Vuitton logos without the company’s permission.
In 2006, Newsom recommended Gaskin for the mayor’s new San Francisco Arts Task Force.
Gaskin reportedly went into the import meat business after Benefit Magazine shut down and according to his LinkedIn, he’s stayed in that business ever since. In a bio he wrote for his website in 2006, Gaskin claimed he worked in meat imports for years before his foray into media.
People think cancel culture is the problem? No. Cancel culture is not the problem. The problem is that people like Gaskin exist in this world, they con their way through life and they behave as if they possess special knowledge and special privilege.
I hope this bastard never works again.
