Madonna has begun work on quite a number of movies over the years, many of them which have — like most — never seen the light of day.

But though her live-leaking of her scripting of her own biopic with Diablo Cody may have seemed premature, it wasn't — the movie is set up at Universal, Amy Pascal is producing and it sounds like all they need to do is finish the script and get it into a final form before the project can commence.

It's possible this could be a 2022 release, or sooner, though that would require the script to be turned in and approved very, very quickly, considering how much COVID-19 will hamper production.

For the first time publicly, it has been revealed that Madonna will direct, making her one of the only icons I can think of to write and direct her own major biopic. I remember others who were intimately involved or even played themselves (Sophia Loren, Joan Rivers), but directing, too?

Guy Oseary and Sara Zambreno, her managers, will executive-produce.
