I spent last night trying to assuage the fears of friends (who should know better) once it was perfectly clear that Warnock and Ossoff would win. Smart Dems, they kept clinging to defeatism, largely because they were watching CNN.
Turn off CNN.
Today, Rev. Raphael Warnock has clearly won his election against former Sen. Kelly Loeffler in Georgia — the race has been called by the AP and every other major outlet.
I've seen enough. Raphael Warnock (D) defeats Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) in GA's special Senate runoff. #GASEN

Also, it is clear Jon Ossoff has also bested longtime former Sen. David Perdue in the Peach State; that election has not been officially called by the AP, but has been called by many numbers crunchers, as Ossoff is ahead by well over 10,000 votes. With only blue areas outstanding, there is no conceivable path for Perdue to prevail.

Democrats win control of the Senate.
This historic win means Democrats control the White House and both the House of Representatives and the Senate. It means Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been demoted, and also means that President-elect Biden can look forward to actually having his Cabinet voted on and approved. Biden should also have a far easier time with any Supreme Court picks. Above all, with the Senate narrowly on his side (and a lot rides on conserva-Dems like Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a kingmaker going forward), Biden will be able to get his agenda going.
Now, Democrats have to lead. We've got less than two years to remind Americans why the country is in better hands with Democrats.
And lest we forget that this is due in large part to the tireless organizing of Stacey Abrams, as some have:
... recall that in November, several other states couldn't be bothered to fire their reprehensible Republican sitting senators (including blue MAINE!), and yet barely blue Georgia fired the richest member in ALL of Congress and a good ol' boy with a marquee surname. It helps when Trump's name is not on the ballot, but much of the rest should be chalked up to Abrams doing the work.

Nancy Pelosi narrowly won enough votes to retain her position as Speaker of the House Sunday in an hours-long session that resulted in a win by 216-209.
This is only the sixth time a SOTH has won with fewer than 218 votes.
To get there, she had to win over some of the 15 Democrats who voted against her in 2019. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wisconsin), who was recently diagnosed with COVID-19, was cleared to travel only at midnight, arriving just in time for the all-important vote. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Florida) was the only Democratic House member to miss the vote — due to a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The five Democrats who nearly handed the House to the contemptible Kevin McCarthy (R-California) were: Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine), Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pennsylvania), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Virginia) and Rep. Mikie Sherill (D-New Jersey).
Two Republicans were unable to attend, having tested positive for COVID-19 too recently. Three other members (two Ds and one R) who were quarantining without positive tests were allowed to vote in person thanks to the installation of a plexiglass structure.
McCarthy, by the way, has endorsed the despicable efforts by Republicans to steal the election for Trump.
"Therefore, the honorable Nancy Pelosi of the state of California, having received a majority of the votes cast, is duly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives for the #117thCongress."
