In the wee small hours of the early morning of January 7, outgoing VP Mike Pence fulfilled his constitutional duty, reading the names of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the rightful winners of the 2020 presidential and vice presidential races.
It is satisfying to hear him read this, though I will give him no points for being in the majority of Republican elected officials who decided insurrection was a pinch too far ...

Pence, sounding exhausted, read a short statement condemning the violence:

Now that his violent nontransition of power has failed, Trump is promising the transition will be peaceful. Yet, of course, he still claims it was all stolen from him, and continues to breathe life into the country's nascent insurrectionist movement:
Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!
Too late! Also too late (and too little, but we'll take it for now), Facebook has banned Trump for at least the remainder of his term. Twitter has him paused.
