Rep. Mary Miller (R-Illinois) was just sworn in, and already she's having to issue an apology — for saying that “Hitler was right.”
The (you'll-be-surprised-to-learn) blonde, blue-eyed right-winger spoke Tuesday at a Moms for America Saving the Republic (from what?) rally, advocating for overturning the 2020 election results. In the presidential race only, natch.
She said:
Hitler was right on one thing, that whoever has the youth has the future. Our children are being propagandized.
Pssst: In her example, Democrats are Hitler.
Miller's apology is super defensive, including this passage:
While some are trying to intentionally twist my words to mean something antithetical to my beliefs, let me be clear: I'm passionately pro-Israel and I will always be a strong advocate and ally of the Jewish community.
Sure, we're twisting your words. Let me check again, what were they? Oh, yeah: “HITLER WAS RIGHT.”
The first time I heard that phrase, growing up in Michigan, I was 16 and a stockboy at a department store. A fellow stockboy, Rob, told me, “Hitler was right — he just didn't go far enough. He should also have exterminated the gays.”
“He did exterminate the gays, numb-skull,” I told him, closeted still.
“Oh, good.”
Apology not accepted, Mare.
