Making history, Dr. Rachel Levine today became the first trans person to win Senate confirmation to a government post — Assistant Secretary for Health.
Levine, who made a name for herself as Pennsylvania's COVID-19 czar, won 52 votes vs. 48 who voted against. All Democratic senators were on her side, and she picked up the support of Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) along the way:
