Madonna has announced a career-retrospective hits tour entitled The Celebration Tour, and its branding makes use of some classic images — albeit with a Dalí-esque touch.
The tour announcement arrives in the form of a Truth or Dare-like, mostly B&W video featuring Bob the Drag Queen (special guest on all dates of the tour), Amy Schumer, Diplo, Jack Black, Eric Andre, Lil Wayne, Kate Berlant, Meg Stalter, Larry Owens and Judd Apatow. In it, the raucous group recreates a fantasy photo from Madonna's Sex book.
At the end of the video, she is dared to go on tour and perform all of her hits — giving us a sample of “La Isla Bonita,” which over time has become one of her most beloved and most streamed songs — and she takes up the challenge:
The tour also promises to pay respect to NYC, where Madonna's career began. Interesting. Madonna says:
I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.
She will tour 35 cities in North America and Europe (so far), kicking off July 15 in Vancouver. Looks like a hard end in Amsterdam on December 1 for now, but if she decided to go on, Australia or South America have to wait until 2024.
