HERE TV: Almost 10 years on, Here TV is re-running the entire Broke Straight Boys reality series. (Warning: I'm told the original series ended abruptly, with no resolution.)

OMG.BLOG!: Do you sound gay?

SOCIALITE LIFE: A whole bunch of visual snacks.

LEGACY: I image-searched and this is apparently a real obituary for Ella Scott Chapman, a 91-year-old who died angry that Trump has yet to be arrested, and that our country is becoming consumed by racism, homophobia and book-banning. I want an obit like this:

Ella Scott Chapman, 91, died on March 22, 2023. She did not die peacefully because she was horrified by the constant attack on literature, facts, knowledge, history and truth currently raging in Florida and across the country ... She was a Mayflower descendant, a strong believer in equal rights for all and a passionate proponent of civil rights, education, critical thinking, and voting rights ... Her love of travel began when she served in the U.S. Women's Air Force during the Korean War. Stationed at headquarters in Erding, Germany, she saw firsthand the horrendous impact of World War II and spoke with the German citizens about how the Nazis had come to power. In recent years, she was horrified to see the American Republican party Tommy-edwards-boycultureovertaken by the same sort of illiberal, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and authoritarian methods and she died in fear that democracy in America is on the verge of collapse. Her greatest regret that she did not live long enough to see Donald Trump arrested, convicted and imprisoned.

I am a fan of a bitter obit!!!

ADVOCATE: No, seriously — Florida is barreling into fascism. The ties detailed in this piece about how gay public official Tommy Edwards (above, right) has been lambasted as a threat to kids say it all.

POLITICO: Italians aghast at Floridian parents calling The David “porn.”

them.: It's already been a year since Don't Say Gay.

WAPO: The death of John Umberger, a gay man and Republican operative who was found dead after going missing in NYC, was only just now ruled a homicide — nine months later. His mother did a lot of the footwork to connect dots for the absolutely worthless NYPD, which dragged its feet on putting 2 and 2 together to realize gay men were being targeted by a group of people, drugged (sometimes to the point of death) and their online accounts drained. She is now praising one cop, though, for actually connecting the cases — as many as a dozen, possibly even including fashion designer Kathryn Marie Gallagher, so there is that one good cop we hear about.

Meanwhile, it seems odd that WaPo did a long profile of Umberger, gushing about how he loved backgammon and was a great guy, but gave other victims short shrift.

In my opinion, W42, in aggregating reporting, does a better job than The New York Post. The Post broke the story that arrests have been made, but awkwardly referred to the six people arrested as “gang members.” I am guessing, but I believe they are using this in the sense that the people are a band of thieves, not that they are actual street gang members? I could be wrong. If I'm not, that story is really poorly written. It is also necessarily devoid of many details, as indictments are sealed.

NPR: Guess I'm the last to know Pras of the Fugees stands accused of being an agent of China at the center of a $100M scheme and is facing decades behind bars if convicted. What a fraud of a group, the Fugees.

YOUTUBE: Nathan Lane is remembering what it was like to be a closeted actor playing a flamboyantly gay character in The Birdcage, saying Robin Williams protected him from coming out as gay to Oprah in 1996, which was a time he said he was not ready. Which is fair! But I remember Lane has always been a mealy-mouthed advocate. For example, he did come out in 1999, but he also went out of his way to mock Brokeback Mountain in 2005. You don't have to like that movie if you're gay, but to poop on it when it was making such a splash with mainstream audiences in spite of being explicitly gay and romantic struck me as unnecessary and ... jealous?

CoS: Madonna's new Tennessee date on her Celebration Tour will donate all proceeds to trans orgs, a direction response to the state's backward anti-trans law. In a statement, she said:

The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob [the Drag Queen] and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.

INSTAGRAM: Denise is a great Madonna double already, one with decades in the game, but her re-creation of the Who's That Girl animated opening titles is ... beyond:
