VARIETY: Goldie Hawn is opening up about what for me was the crushing collapse of the film Chicago, which was set to star herself and Madonna. As my pal John points out, Madonna would have played Velma and Goldie Roxie (the article flops the roles), and this was a go in the '90s, not the '80s. But interesting hearing from Goldie nonetheless. Interestingly — insanely? — Variety asked Harvey Weinstein for a comment ... and he complied, offering a self-aggrandizing quote that overlooked how villainous he comes off even in this little story, instead focusing on the fact that Goldie ruefully acknowledges he at least paid her after putting the kibosh on her involvement.
