GPB: This is just insane. Author Marc Tyler Nobleman gives talks about the origins of Batman, and it involves a gay aspect — which was enough to get him banned from a public school. EURONEWS: Forty-one years ago today in San Francisco, the Gay Games began. Created by Tom Waddell (1937-1987), the first edition attracted over 1,300 competitors and 10,000 fans, and Tina Turner and Stephanie Mills performed at the opening ceremony. More about the first Gay Games.

JOE.MY.GOD.: Joe the Plumber, the phony plumber who became famous during the 2008 presidential election when he confronted Barack Obama — and who later advocated for white presidents, and who told grieving parents “your dead kids don't trump my constitutional rights” — has died at 49 of pancreatic cancer. Don't forget to flush!
