Eric Manchester was one of those porn stars who always had my full attention. Something about the dark hair and the sultry look in his eyes ... he was just it.

He was in quite a few films and magazine layouts, but perhaps his biggest-deal appearance was in the classic In Your Wildest Dreams (1988). Who can forget the scene in which Manchester, a cat burglar, breaks into a home, only to find Kevin Williams eating Tom Brock's ass.

Over the years, I had noted he was one of the lucky ones who apparently hadn't died of AIDS early on. For one thing, over 20 years ago, I saw a small escort ad he'd placed in Next.

Today, I ran across a vintage model release I have signed by him, which reminded me of his real name. I impulsively Googled him — only to discover he died just this past year at 58. I haven't seen this widely reported, so I'm letting you all know here.

I know it's hard to recognize him (by the way, he was only a few years older than I am — and he always seemed so much older when I watched him), but I can confirm the name and birthdates are a match.

Rest in peace Eric Manchester, and rest in peace Ron Liter.
