TORONTO STAR: Glad Day Bookshop, the oldest queer bookstore in the world — and one of the very few brick-and-mortar examples left — needs at least $100,000 in order to pay back rent and survive. Its owners actually want to raise $300,000 in order to be stable and to plan a new incarnation that would address changes in the marketplace.
I love the place — I remember going in when Boy Culture was relatively new. Seeing my novel on sale in such an iconic place was thrilling. I'm only sad that Glad Day is one of the last survivors of its era.
