AP NEWS: It's sickening for us all — people who like Joe Biden, people who don't particularly, people who think he can win, fatalists who are spending all their time stating he will lose, but Democrats all — to witness the Biden campaign's mistakes and to witness so many prominent Democrats say, imply or leak that they're thinking he is sunk. Every day, we think he'll step aside, only to hear he won't, then another big name urges him out the door and the cycle repeats. It is mentally draining.
There is no other, guaranteed-to-win candidate, complicating things, though I believe Kamala Harris could do it and would almost have to be his replacement.
But ... what replacement? Just today, Biden's campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon went on Morning Joe and insisted that in spite of current slippage in support, Biden is staying in the race:
We have a lot of work to do to reassure the American people that yes he’s old, but he can win ... They have questions, but they are staying with Joe Biden.
I don't think there is any right answer at this late date, but there is definitely room for Biden's meh support to firm up and for him to make this The (Harry S) Truman Show.
TWITTER: I do not think the DNC can survive this election if Biden were to bow out and Harris were to be discarded as well. For that reason, I firmly believe if he does go, it's Harris, balls-to-the-wall. However, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is letting slip that this is not so. There are some of her colleagues who thinking they can be slick and pass Harris over. Unless they were to come up with someone amazing, universally liked and who cancels out that justifiable resentment — I don't see the point of swapping like that, do you?
How's that hopey-predicty thing working for you, Nate? (Image via Twitter)
TWITTER: Donald Trump gave the longest acceptance speech in the history of the RNC and DNC. More importantly, it was boring, listless, had many nonsensical and improvised moments and was packed with lies. It was extremely hard to watch. I realize many people have good-faith reservations about Joe Biden, but there is simply no comparison. We have to keep this fascist goon out of office. If that means holding your nose and voting for Joe Biden, and then giving him hell in his second term, God bless:

NBC NEWS: Hulk Hogan was one of the biggest, er, stars of the RNC. That he was warmly embraced is not surprising, since he is a Peter Thiel pal and a total racist. (The words are true.) Please never again whine about cancel culture. The man is rich as fuck and welcome at the RNC through it all.

HUFF POST: Remember when a white male college student — who was counter-protesting a Free Palestine demo on campus — mocked a pro-Palestine Black woman by making monkey noises and gestures? Look, wherever you stand on Israel and Palestine, that's wrong. Welp, the RNC included it as a positive example of anti-wokeness. Tell me again, Blacks for Trump, how open the party is. Talk to me, Amber Rose, about how Trump doesn't care if you're Black or white.
