BWAY FLEA MARKET: As I have for many years, I trekked over to the Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction, the annual fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (or as one twink ominously announced in the crowd, “For AIIIIIIDDDDSSSSS”). Most years, I come away with a surprising treasure — an opening-night gift from Angela Lansbury to Jane Connell, an original painting by Paul Jasmin — but this year was tough. There are simply too many excited Playbill hoarders and not enough space to properly examine what's for sale. I did my best for two hours (in a tiny area) and came away with a few photos and nothing more. One guy had a Vivien Leigh/Jean-Pierre Aumont opening-night Tovarich gift, but it was just too much money, and I talked myself out of a cool Kenn Duncan-signed poster because it was, sadly, drymounted on foam. But it is always worth going, and I did spot Neil Patrick Harris and his hubby David Burtka, who were basically like that pastry you want under glass in a bakery when you're a few too many people away to have a chance at buying it:
