Shocked to learn that the 45-year-old man shoved under a subway train by a young, crazy guy here in NYC has turned out to be my friend, Joe Lynskey.
Joe is a music man, a great guy and well-known in the Madonna-fan community. He's always been friendly and kind, making what happened all the more random and inexplicable. I've been disheartened to see racist (two Madonna fans on my IG had to be blocked) and political comments bubbling up around this incident, but my faith in humanity was perked up by the outpouring of donations intended to help him out.
Notably, among the nearly $100,000 raised already, Madonna's manager Guy Oseary gave $5,000, DJ Elvis Duran gave $1,000 and NYC politico Corey Johnson chipped in $2,000. Broadway Cares chipped in $1,500.
