Longtime photographer, archivist and collector Reed Massengill is returning to the Manhattan art scene with his exhibition Fun with Dick & Selections by Reed Massengill at SoHo Project Space's Robert W. Richards Gallery (127B Prince St., NYC).

At a preview last week, the show — which runs through March 2 — displayed a lot of flesh via his pocket-sized Instax prints and larger gelatin prints (including a Greek god-like, very young Vin Diesel).

Simultaneously, the space is featuring selections from his friend Lon of New York's last (only) gallery show 20 years ago.

Some of the work is previously unseen, and some is culled from his books Massengill and Brian: A Nine-Year Photographic Diary.

I was particularly enamored of the intimate Instax prints — reminded me of when I saw Mapplethorpe's Polaroids at the Chicago Institute of Art and we all had to lean wayyyy over to squint at them, only to find the subject matter eye-opening.
